花映「タマシイノハナ」 | Flower Viewing 「Flowers of the Soul」

What started as a bit of an experimental translation, I have faith turned out well in the end.

I have reason to believe this is not from Yamada’s point of view, and I’m here to tell you why, as well as go a little in depth into the lyrics.

First, take a look at the characters featured in the booklet art. Notice the Prismrivers, Komachi, Reimu, and Yuuka.

In stanzas 3 and 4, we can inference that the lines refer to the Prismrivers. Not only do they mention “a mysterious and joyous sound” (music), but the Prismrivers were also orphaned as they were alive.

As for stanzas 10 and 11, I believe this refers to Komachi. All I really have to make that connection with is the hair comment and the fact that she’s in the picture though.

Lastly, stanzas 18 and 19, has to be Reimu. Especially since she exterminates youkai and all, and with the “at least if the end is you” line. This also leads me to have few doubts that this is all coming Yuuka’s perspective. There has also been another song with flower symbolism just like this before with her theme being arranged.

is what may as well be the sun’s garden

とおく　どこか　きこえてくるのは
ふしぎとたのしげな音

tooku doko ka kikoete kuru no wa
fushigi to tanoshige na oto

Far off, somewhere, you can hear coming
a mysterious and joyous sound

けれど　父さも母さもいなけりゃ
しだいに　心ぼそくなる

keredo too sa mo kaa sa mo inakerya
shidai ni kokorobosoku naru

However, without a father or mother
gradually the heart becomes uneasy

その身の末期、知ることもなく
ゆららゆららとただ屈託の無く―。

sono mi no matsugo, shiru koto mo naku
yurara yurara to tada kuttaku no naku―.

Not knowing a thing, of their body’s last moments,
carelessly carelessly, without a single worry―.

花よ　幻想に咲いて
迎えはまだ来ない

hana yo gensou ni saite
mukae wa mada konai

Oh flowers, bloom in fantasy
Your time has not yet come

その仮命のある限り
今はただ揺れていてよ

sono inochi no aru kagiri
ima wa tada yureteite yo

As long as you have your short lives
for now, just keep on swaying

全て　人は　孤独に生きては
最期も独りの運命

subete hito wa kodoku ni ikite wa
saigo mo hitori no sadame

All people that live in solitude are fated
to be alone in the end as well

我らが　生きる　その生涯に
添える彩なども　無ければ

warera ga ikiru sono michinori ni
soeru iro nado mo nakereba

if in the journey of life that we live
there are no colours added to it

曼珠沙華を　映したかのよな
その髪　それでも綺麗で

manjushage o utsushita kano yo na
sono kami sore demo kirei de

That which seemingly reflected the spider lilies
your hair, even that is fair

叶うならこの生涯を共にと
そんな告白を　飲み込んで

kanau nara kono michinori o tomo ni to
sonna kotoba o nomi konde

“If my wish comes true, would you join me on this journey of life?”
She swallows down such words of confessions

その身の末期、確かめられず
さららさららとただ想いに沈む―。

sono mi no matsugo, tashikamerarezu
sarara sarara to tada omoi ni shizumu―.

Unable to be sure, of their body’s last moments,
leisurely leisurely, they sink in their feelings―.

花よ　幻想に咲いて
迎えは待たずとも

hana yo gensou ni saite
mukae wa matazu tomo

Oh flowers, bloom in fantasy
even if your time delays not

その仮命のある限り
今はただ咲いていてよ

sono inochi no aru kagiri
ima wa tada saiteite yo

As long as you have your short lives
for now, just keep in bloom

果てた命を
蘇生える幻想に捧ぐ
咲かせるは魂の花

hateta inochi o
yomigaeru gensou ni sasagu
sakaseru wa tamashii no hana

Dedicating to the
fantasy that revives perished lives
What I make bloom are flowers of the soul

殺しもすれば　殺されもする
いつかの報いの　果てか

koroshi mo sureba korosare mo suru
itsu ka no mukui no hate ka

If you kill, you shall also be killed
Is that the result of fated retribution?

なればここは　終の幽世か
かくも　美しきところが

nareba koko wa tsui no kakuriyo ka
kakumo utsukushiki tokoro ga

Be it so, is this place their final resting place?
This place of such beauty

我を知ってか　こちらに目をやる
見知らぬ少女の姿

ware o shitte ka kochira ni me o yaru
mi shiranu otome no sugata

Dost thou know thyself? I ask the figure of an unfamiliar maiden
turning her eyes this way

せめて最期がお前ならばと
そっと思いを寄せては

semete saigo ga omae naraba to
sotto omoi o yosete wa

I gently reel in my thoughts
thinking “at least if the end is you”

その身の罪は、幾許ならん
はららはららとただ静かにそこに―。

sono mi no tsumi wa, ikubaku naran
harara harara to tada shizuka ni soko ni―.

There hardly exists any sin in your body,
dispersing dispersing, just there in silence―.

花よ　幻想に咲いて
迎えの来るまで

hana yo gensou ni saite
mukae no kuru made

Oh flowers, bloom in fantasy
until your times comes

その仮命のある限り
今はただ咲き誇れよ

sono inochi no aru kagiri
ima wa tada saki hokore yo

As long as you have your short lives
for now, just bloom with pride

花は　幻想のままに
その彩も幻

hana wa gensou no mama ni
sono iro mo maboroshi

The flowers remain in fantasy
Their colours, also illusions
