Those Hands, Let Resound, the Sound of These Shoes

The touhou wiki has the song title as “Let the Sounds of Those Shoes Resound, with Your Hands”  in English, but personally, I think that’d be more fitting if it said 「その手で」 in the title instead, so here we are with this one. Lets see, this song would seem to be about Meiling all alone back in China, waiting to be taken in by someone (Who, as we know, would come to be Remilia). It’s neat to see how it changes from “for someone” to “for you” throughout the song.

One of the stranger words from this song would have to be 生まれ溢れて. Actually, its whole stanza there feels pretty ugly in English as I have it, but there’s not much you can do there I don’t think.

ima wa mada, doko ka ni umoreru
kachi no nai
garakuta no you na mono demo,

Still as of now, buried off somewhere
though comparable
to trash with no value,

hiroi agete nozoite mireba, hora.
kagayaku mono o
daiji ni kaketeimasu.

if you were to pick it up and try taking a peek, just look.
You’ll find that you’re
preciously holding something shining.

“我一直在这里等着你”

“wǒ yīzhí zài zhèlǐ děngzhe nǐ”

“I’ll always be here waiting for you”

sore wa watashi no doko kara ka
itsu ka umare aferete,
kokoro, michi yuku uta

Someday to overflow with birth
that’s my from somewhere,
heart, filling song.

todoketai na.
tsutaetai na.

I want to send it out.
I want to transmit it.

nee, mimi o katamukete

Hey, will you lend an ear?

itsu ka
de aubeki hito no tame
kono mi o sasagu hito no tame

Someday
for the sake of the one whom I should meet
for the sake of the one whom I offer to this body

mukaerareru sono hi o
itsu ka, itsu ka to, machi kogarete

For the day when I’m received
when that is, when that is, I eagerly await

douka
kutsu no ne o hibikasete
kono kokoro e to hibikasete

Would you please
let the sound of these shoes resound?
Let it resound towards this heart

na mo motanu kono watashi ni
douka sono te o nobashite

Towards I who have no name
would you please reach out that hand?

moshi mo negai ga, kanau no da toshitara
kono mi ni shika
nashienu koto o nashitai to,

If my wish, were to come true
I say I’d want to succeed in
what only this body can do,

otozure kuru amaneku hitobito o
mukaerareru you na
「yobi rin」 de aritai.

I want to be a “calling bell”
that can call out for people
that come and visit from far and wide.

“我一直在这里等着你”

“wǒ yīzhí zài zhèlǐ děngzhe nǐ”

“I’ll always be here waiting for you”

yume o tagutte yume kazura
omoi soete, itsu shika,
hana hiraku you ni to.

Dream vines to pull in dreams
If you add your feelings, before you realize,
they say it’ll be like flowers blooming

negaitai na.
kanaetai na.

I want to make a wish.
I want it to be granted.

nee, mimi o katamukete?

Hey, will you lend an ear?

itsu ka
de aubeki hito no tame
kono mi o sasagu hito no tame

Someday
for the sake of the one whom I should meet
for the sake of the one whom I offer to this body

sono te ni dakareru hi o
ima ka, ima ka to, machi kogarete

For the day when I’m embraced by those arms
if that’s now, if that’s now, I eagerly await

douka
kutsu no ne o hibikasete
kono kokoro e to hibikasete

Would you please

yume o miru
itsu ka, sono tobira o akete,
unmei no hito ga arawarete,
tooi basho e, tsurete itte,
ibasho o ataete kudasaru no da to,

I have a dream
someday, I’ll open that door,
the one of my fate will appear,
she’ll take me away, to a far place,
she’ll kindly give to me a place where I belong,

…yume o miru.

…that’s what I dream.

itsu ka
de aubeki hito no tame
kono mi o sasagu hito no tame

Someday
for the sake of the one whom I should meet
for the sake of the one whom I offer to this body

utsukushiki utagoe o
omotome ni naru no de shitaraba

If it comes to seeking out
a beautiful singing voice

kitto
dare yori mo suteki na ne o
anata no tame ni narashimashou.

surely
more so than anyone else
for your sake I shall sing a lovely sound

no mo motanu kono watashi ni
inochi no imi o ataete

To I who have no name
give my life a meaning

de aubeki anata no tame
kono mi o sasagu anata no tame

For the sake of you whom I should meet
For the sake of you whom I offer to this body

sono mi ni tsukaeru hi o
ima ka, ima ka to, machi kogarete

For the day when I serve you
if that’s now, if that’s now, I eagerly await
